The 'debunking' page is just one side of the argument, on the other side are the 'preposterous sort of prescriptivists' who are still arguing the opposite. So nothing is 'debunked', the debate just goes on.

No, not really. There is no serious "debate" whatsoever among linguists or those who genuinely understand how the English language works. Both of these so-called grammatical "rules" ("stylistic choices," really) were invented out of whole cloth in the mid-19th century by academic ninnies who believed natural English grammar should be artificially contorted to accord with Latin grammar. They have at no time reflected real-life English usage, either in speech or in literature.

Of course, in theory any topic can be labeled "debatable." There are those still those who seriously maintain the Earth is flat, or that Barack Obama is a Socialist Muslim born in Kenya. Rational people, however, are not required to take their views seriously.

My only problem with the blog post is that it's so obvious as to be completely banal. Won't hire someone with poor writing skills for a job that requires writing or close attention to detail? Well, duh!
