Salamanca to Porto

Hi guys ,

I am currently in Salamanca , looking to head to Porto on Tuesday the 24th . I have been told Alsa does this route . So far
I have looked at the website and downloaded the app but there doesn't seem to be an option to have Porto as a destination .
Chances are my iPhone is not including all the relevant information , or is it possible that this route is no longer available ?

There is no doubt there is a six hour journey, depart 1145 arrive 1645, provided by ALSA.
I can only guess why you cannot find it on the website - did you change to 'International' journeys, did you spell as 'Oporto'?

I tried Porto and Oporto but neither came up however when looking at the website on my phone I am not given a choice to search for international destinations so perhaps that's the problem . Now , knowing there is a bus departing at 1145 should I walk to the station tomorrow and buy the tickets or can I wait until the Tuesday and buy them at the station then ?

Who can know who or how many might turn up at the last minute, in the same way you might. If you want peace of mind you purchase soonest.

Agree with annemariet - we took that bus a few years ago and it was pretty crowded. If you're sure you know when you want to travel its certainly worth the peace of mind you get from buying a few days in advance.

In addition, in my experience, you rarely can rock up and buy bus (or train) tickets anywhere in Spain without considerable queing being involved - best to get that out of the way when its not time-crucial.

Hi,
if you´re not able to find the bus, you could have a look to the train (Renfe). It used to be a line from Paris to Lisbon and Porto (the train divided itself in two parts in Portugal) that stopped in Salamanca by night (around 1 in the morning). Good luck!

It's a long time since the last time that train ran. Nowadays, the train goes only from Lisbon to Hendaye (from Irún to Lisbon on the way back). Comming from Porto (or going to Porto), you have to change trains in Coimbra(B). Departing from Salamanca, you have to take the train to Coimbra(B) at 04:41 a.m....
