Best places for from Cape Town: Safari, Whale watching, diving
Hello All,We're hoping to talk 16 days in CT and would like to see and do the following:
Wine region tour
Safari for big 5
Whale watching
Scuba diving if possible
Shark dive
My question is, can we do all this from CT and is this a good idea given the limited time we have, or should be land in JB and make our way down to CT doing a safari on the way?
Thank you for your expert advice!

see my reply to your other post.Wine region tour - easy
Safari for big 5 - no, not really, there private reserves but they're like the ones in the UK, Addo NP near PE is probably your best option. There were never lions and such in the Cape region
Whale watching - yes, August to November
Scuba diving if possible - no really great diving
Shark dive - yes

I would fly to Johannesburg and then spend a few days on safari in the Kruger area, you can fly from Nelspruit to Cape Town after your safari. There Are safari options around Cape Town, but not in the same league as Kruger area. Addo isn't really a very good option to Kruger, but it's ok.A lot of companies does winetours so that's easy, and you might want to spend the night and visit one of Stellenbosch's many great restaurants.
Whale watching is great from Hermanus both from land and boat, companies will pick you up at your Hotel in Cape Town and drive you back after the boat trip. Remember sea sickness pills, Even if you don't usually need Them. 60% on our trip threw up. We payed 900 zar including transport pr. person.
Shark diving is usually done from Gansbaai and again companies will pick you up at your hotel so it's very easy.

Alternatively, fly to Durban and do your safari in Hluhluwe, then you also have good diving options slightly south (Aliwal Shoals and Protea Banks) or north (Sodwana Bay).
