It appears from Temehu's website that they are in operation, but from on the ground here in Tripoli, I haven't come across anyone from Temehu yet or heard of anyone that has actually traveled with them since the revolution. Do they have a local office? We heard that most tour operators shut down this past year here in Libya. I do know that there is one new local Libyan company that is obtaining tourist visas for travelers...it is called "Libya Adventures." I've also heard that "Eye of Libya" may be obtaining visas for travelers, and I believe "Echo Libya" is working, but they focus on French-speaking travelers. Here are two websites of tour operators that I know for sure are doing tours in Libya right now:www.libyaadventures.com

Just an update...I spoke with a professional tour guide this morning who said that Temehu is still operating and that their office is open. It is located in Zuwara, Libya.5
Hello,a quick update regarding Libyan/ Tunisian border at Ras Ejdir is currently unavailable for tourist or transit visa holders, but it is okay for exiting for those who entered Libya via Egypt. If somehow you have secured your visa (with entry via Ras Ejdir), you may not be able to bring your vehicle into Libya, due to the fact that the Tunisian authorities currently (June 2012) do not allow any foreign vehicles to cross towards Ras Ejdir. As an alternative route you can try entry via Dhiba border point, but nothing is guaranteed, and you might not be able to return to Tunisia once you cross over to the Libyan border point (only to find yourself denied entry to Libya).

Just wanted to add an update on bringing vehicles in from Tunisia to Libya. I have asked on the ground here in Tripoli and haven't heard of any trouble. One professional tour guide that I know even made a phone call for me to someone who he knows who works at the Ras Jdir border, and they said there is no problem for vehicles to come in from Tunisia to Libya as long as you have the correct visas and paperwork for your car. He said the only hold up at the border right now is on the Libyan side...apparently there is a LONG line of Libyan vehicles lined up who are people headed to Tunisia before Ramadan starts. Hope this helps!11
Yes, RR. You'll need to get a letter of invitation for a business visa...then get the stamp placed in your passport at the Libyan Embassy that the letter and number are faxed to...then you can enter through the Ras Jdir border. Right now, security-wise, it is still only recommended that you travel along the northern, coastal road of the country.
