Places to stay near airport in New Delhi
Hello,I am headed to Delhi in a couple of days, but we will be arriving after dark. We were thinking of just staying somewhere close to the airport and then getting our bearings in the morning. Any suggestions on reasonably priced and decent places to stay?
Thank you!

I wouldn't bother - you may gain a little time to/fro airport but you'll lose more sightseeing over a coupladays.I've stayed in 2 of those places an they were both soul-less, characterless establishments and having to pay too much for sub-standard nosh.
If you haven't got a guidebook - look up on Tripadaviser (owned be Expedia who are lookng for a commission) - choose one in your price range then phone the hotl to make a booking.

I agree with Graham. Just pick a hotel you want to stay at regardless of it's proximity to the airport and get there after you land. Switching hotels from one day to the next is a pain and takes up a lot more time than just getting to the one you want in the first place. The time makes no difference. Use the pre-paid taxi and you'll be as safe at 3am as you would at 3pm.
Good luck.

Agree with the others ... just go into Delhi ... staying at the airport area is a waste of time, and not necessary if your heading in anyhow.6
If you do not come in the wee hours but say, between 6 and 11 PM, you can still use metro to reach Connaugh Place or New Delhi railway station(for Pahar Ganj) and choose good, affordable hotel. And metro is by far the fastest, cheapest and safest way.It will take only 20-25 minutes to reach above mentioned parts of Delhi and only 80 rupees or so, while taxi will take hour or more in the evening and cost at least 5X more .7
Good to know that the Metro is now runnning from the airport to Rawjiv Chowk (finally), but a lot of flights arrive after midnight from Europe....
