Weather in Vietnam in September/OctoberHi,
My boyfriend and I are planning our first trip to Vietnam from 21st September to 4th October.
We're starting in Ho Chi Minh and then flying north and working our way down through Hue/Hoi An and back to Ho Chi Minh.
We are really worried about the rain, does anyone know how bad it is at this time of year and whether we'll be getting much sunshine?
Coming from Glasgow, we don't mind the rain but would love some sun!
Any information would much appreciated or any hints/tips with regards to our route would be great!

2Thank you, will definitely do that. Do you know if you get sunshine spells aswell or does it rain solidly around Hoi An?

6How far North are you going? Ha Noi should be nice at that time of the year.

7In late September occasional thunderstorms can be expected in the late afternoon in Hue. Sometimes it will pour for half an hour and other times the rain will pass right by and drop somewhere else. Unpredictable as such storms always are. Usually the mornings are fine and sunny.
In central VN the rain starts in earnest at the beginning of October and usually lasts for two months. Local legend has it that the heavy rains start after the mid- autumn festival which this year is on 30 September. Because the storms blow in from the sea and are so unpredictable, the usual weather divide provided by the Hai Van Pass, does not have much effect on the wet season. So the weather in Da Nang and Hoi An can be just as wet as Hue at that time of year. The rain is not the fine misty kind you will be accustomed to - when it comes it belts down.
The variation from year to year is great and you may get lucky and miss all heavy rain. Not much you can do about it really but buy a rain coat and splash round.

8As I know the raining season in Hue/Da Nang/Hoi An starts from Sep, but if luckily you will not meet the rain. Maybe it is little rain in this year , so I think it is fine when you intend to go there at that time.
There are many nice hotels/resorts/tours which are waiting for you there.

9Thank you for all your posts. Think we will book and just hope for the best! I was previously in Thailand in September and still managed to get some sunshine. Will maybe just spend more time in the North and South and less in Hue/Hoi An if the weather is bad. Thanks for your advice, it is much appreciated.
If anyone knows any particular nice hotels/beach resorts in the South, could you please recommend? Thanks.
