Malaysian Islands
After 4 months traveling and being constantly on the move we think we would like just to stop in one place for 2 weeks, chill and save some money. We'd really like the classic budget beach huts right on the beach, not too fused about night life, in fact wouldn't mind getting away from the booze.
A couple of dives woud be nice.
What Island would you choose that can give us all this?
Thanks

Hi.Try Perhentian island, i was there last year. It was an amazing island, just a beach, hotels and restaurants. No roads+++.
In the evening on the kecil island there is load music and party on the beach.
If you want to go to a place for just relaxing, go to Tioman. Tioman is south in malaysia, the island is a tax free zone where you can buy cheap chocolate and booze. The island is chill, no need to stress only laying on beach, snorkling or diving if you like that.
On both islands there are plenty of accom.. both cheap and expensive.

Okay i'm going to split between the two. Any recommendations for accommodation on Perhentian Kecil and Tioman. I'm looking for $30 a night max, do you think that will be possible or am i going to have to raise the budget?4
If you want to get away from the loud night life then you could go to Perhentian Besar. Very laid back - you can buy booze there but it's really not an important part of the life. The place I stay (Mama's Chalets) doesn't sell alcohol in the restaurant but you can buy it next door.5
I think that you will find accommodation for 30 usd a night both at Tioman and the Perhentian islands..ยจFor example you can check out this link: http://www.mataharichalet.com/
I have never stayed there though..

I'd go with Perhentian Besar...have a look at Bubbles Dive Resort. Its a little above your budget but not much...quiet,private beach (with turtles nesting)....a reef off the beach for snorkelling and it has a dive shop.No road and no cars...in and out by boat only.ADVERTISEMENT
