Ski season in Cadana
Hi, folks,I´m planning a trip from Brazil to USA and Canada in november. I intend to visit Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec city, and NYC.
I´ll spend some time in the province of Quebec in the second half of the month. So, I´d like to know if you could recomend me any place in east Canada (Ontario or Quebec) where it´s posible to ski in november. In general, the resorts web pages show the ski schedule starting in december...

I am sad to tell you that if you want to be sure you can ski in Québec (don't know about Ontario), you need to wait untill the end of December - and even then, most ski stations aren't fully opened untill mid-January. Actually, if I may give my advise, you should consider changing your schedule and start your trip with Québec, as the weather here in November is probably the worst of the year (no snow yet, no more leaves in the trees, very ugly weather, colder temperatures, shorter days...). The ealier in the month you get here, the "warmer" it's still, Québec City being the coldest of all destinations you mentioned4
littlechilds, I had the same thought. It is either referred to as a Ski resort or a Ski hill. Calling it a Ski station leads me to believe neither has never strapped on a pair of skis in their life.But be that as it may, no skiing until December and often late December, unless it is turning out to be an exceptional cold winter when the Ski hills in the east can make snow.
We used to say if there is lots of snow out west, the east is not getting much and visa versa!

Maybe Diogo from Brazil doesn't have English as his first language, and maybe the literal translation of "ski resort" in Portuguese is "ski station" in English. Geez, give the guy a break!Sorry, Diogo, if you want to ski in November, you will have to come to western Canada. Some of the ski resorts in the Rocky Mountains open in November.

to RGMkrp329 was mostly right : I'm a french speaker from Québec, and "station de ski" (the french term for a place where you can ski because a contractor built all the needed infrastructures) has mistakenly been translated as "ski station" in my post. I do hope that if you come to Québec and try out some French to be nice to locals and doing so make a mistake (for example, asking for a "colline de ski" - ski hill ), people will appreciate the effort and not mock it.
By the way, I'm 32 and been skiing since I was 3, so that's it for the people thinking that I was just pretending it.... It's sad to feel such animosity in a place that should be friendly. I'm trying to connect in a langage everybody can understand, even though I don't do it perfectly. And I don't like the feeling that I am being insulted in a public space for no real reason.

I used to ski Mont Tremblant and it was one of the most unfriendly Ski areas, until the Japanese bought it and spent 1 million dollars to re-educate the staff there that if the customers stay away their jobs are gone too. All of a sudden they actually smiled and their surliness toward English speaking customers had evaporated.Yeah and by the way cath_c, Quebec is so bilingual that they have to have a language police to wipe out English signs and there are fines for disobeyance. There are NO English directional signs on the highways versus in Ontario where a lot of money was wasted to make signs in both English and Quebecois. The total population in Canada claiming French as their language is about 20%.!
BTW: English is not my native tongue!!!
