Is Iraqi Kurdistan actually worth traveling to?? & Israeli Stamp problems??
Hi Thorn Tree,Next year I will be traveling near Kurdistan and I am debating whether I should make a short trip there...
I meet many people telling me they want to go to Iraqi Kurdistan but know little about it. Guide books and websites go into little detail about tourist sites and I am wondering whether the desire of the people wanting to go to Iraq is just to say "yay, I've been to Iraq... look at me I'm a Lad!". I'm sure Kurdistan is a friendly and safe place, but in terms of tourist sites to keep you occupied, is there actually much to do??
On a separate note, I have a Hong Kong and Brit passport. I would use my Brit passport to get into Kurdistan (knowing I could get a visa free period of 10 days), but would the Israeli stamp cause any problems??
Even if the israeli stamp causes no problem at all I would prefer to use my HK passport. The reason is because I am using my HK passport for my whole trip from Turkey to China via Iran. If I use my UK passport to go in and out of Iraq, I fear that there will be a possibility that the Iranians would find out that I have a 2nd passport with an Israeli stamp in it... So If I do use my HK passport how would I go about getting a visa?? and If I do use my UK passport what is the possibility that the Iranians would find out that I have this second passport?
P.S. my route if I do go would be Turkey, Kurdistan, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, (Georgia), (Azerbaijan), Iran, Turkmenistan....
Thanks for any info,
Edward

Amazing website you have with some amazing pictures. Hope to visit it at least for a couple of days.... I hope it doesn't become unsafe with the Americans out of the Area. The Bomb blast in Bagdad today looks pretty bad.... hope Kurdistan isn't effected by all the stuff going on in the rest of the country.5
food for me seems like persian, mostly you can find kebab (like chello kebab in iran) or some sandwiches, i loved chicken in Dohuk, lovely soups..beer? in Ain Kawa, one of the neighbourhood of Arbil (5-6km from city center) you can find lot of alcohol, it is christian suburb and plenty of shops with beer and much more
