Good surfing spots for beginners - east coast USA

Looking for a good place to spend a couple of days surfing near the end of july on the east coast (anywhere between vermont and florida works). We have slim to no experience, so we'd be looking for waves that aren't too big and a place where it's fairly easy to rent surfing equipment.

Thanks !

We tried to do this in Cocoa Beach Florida. Unfortunately the few days there the surf was very calm. We had also an opportunity when in Palm Beach but decided not to. This is on my bucket list as well.

I can't speak for other spots up the coast but having been to Florida and the Carolinas multiple times, Florida's coast allowed for the opportunity many times due to storms and such bringing in surf of up to 6-8 feet on occasion and we haven't had that up in the Carolinas but I'm sure it does happen.

In Florida, the infamous Ronjon...

There are dozens of other spots in each state, you just need to use Google.

Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks are good. Virginia Beach has some of the most reliable waves on the east coast.

Hey,
I am looking for pretty much the same thing but I don't want to end up a place where there is so many surfers you can't even catch a wave (happen to me in the past).
So, is there a place on the east coast where you can rent easily a board but not known to much, so there is not too many douches around (sorry, but i will speak frankly)
Google cannot anwser that sadly...

big thanks!
