Best beaches in east Canada???I am planning my holidays but I don´t have a sure destination yet.
One of the options is East Canada (Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto...) but I am looking for a good place with nature and beaches (or a good lake)
I´ve read about some places in Ontario, but I am not sure.
What do you say?? Which is the best option to rest a couple of days and have a swim.
I am going on holidays on September. What about the weather on that season??
Thanks a lot

1Prince Edward Island, esp. Pr Edward Is. National Park, has some of the best beaches in Canada, if you are willing to go a little further east
PEI gets a little cooler in September, but, the peak season is over by then. PEI is very busy in July and August, but once the kids are back in school...PEI calms down
Although PEI is a big tourist area....its beaches are not full of kitsch (outside of the Green Gables stuff). They are clean and quiet compared to most places

2You'd have to be a polar bear to go swimming in PEI after August! The Atlantic is cold!
Everything winds down after Labour day, first Monday in September, then water temps start to drop like a stone, at least in eastern Canada.

What about the weather and beaches-lakes in Ontario??
Thanks a lot

4I do think you have to be a polar bear to swim on any beach in Canada in any month of the year. Many are very beautiful but non are warm.

5one thing for certain is you will require your own transportation.. lots of nice beaches in ontario, PARRY SOUNd AREA is very popular wih campers and cottagers. long point in ontario ha a nice campgound and very nice sndy beach. in toronto a trip to the center island with a nice ferry ride not bad. nice park etc there. no car required . pei is real picturesque . but once again car required.

6On Lake Huron...
Some great beaches stretch from Ipperwash to Port Franks to Grand Bend. That stretch includes the Pinery Provincial Park where camping is allowed. Grand Bend is a popular holiday town.
On Lake Erie...
Port Stanley (south of London) has a very good beach.
On Georgian Bay...
Wasaga Beach is very popular.
In September, I don't think I'd be swimming anywhere except in a heated pool.
The first half of September usually has warm weather (temperatures in the low 20s degrees Celsius), but the latter half has cooler days -- sweater or jacket weather for me, but some people still wear short sleeves & short pants until October.

8Thanks a lot for your help, for me it doesn´t matter if I don´t have a swim.
If I want to go to the beach I can do it on August in Spain
But my girlfriend and friends they do want a nice beach to have a swim... I am going to talk with them
Yes, we are planning our holidays renting a car or a van.
We wanted to go to Hawaii to visit three islands but it´s getting impossible because we have a 36hours trip to arrive there... so we lose 4 days to go and return and we only have two weeks.
Thanks a lot

10Being form Québec, I would back up those saying that having a swim here in September needs a lot of determination, but the weather above the water is great (my personal favorite of the year), and the lakes/rivers (Saint-Laurent river being more or less an ocean at some point...) are beautiful anyway. If you love nature and beautiful landscapes, have a look at the national park website, where you can find all kind of housing and information about very amazing spots to visit.
My favorite park is the par des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-rivière-Malbaie, with a tremendous view from the Acropole des Draveurs. You can even go for a glassboat ride, just like on the Seine river in Paris!
Hope you have a nice trip, whatever you decide
