Japan - Hong Kong budget airline?

Looking to travel for 10 days to 14 days in Japan. However I thought I might take the opportunity while in the zone to visit a friend in Hong Kong.
I'm intending to fly in and out of Japan, and looking for budget flight recommendations to HK and back. Can anyone offer suggestions, also for different itinerary if it would be cheaper. Thanks.

"in the zone"??? It's almost four hours from Osaka to Hong Kong...

Your best bet is a stopover in HKG during the intercontinental flight. Use any search engine's "multi city" option.

Check for Peach , a new Japan Airline.
Check for other China airline via china.
Check for Cebu Pacific Air via Philippine (Sometime is good discount)
and...

Budget options in and out of Japan are limited, because Japanese aviation policy has not facilitated new entrants. Fares to Japan have been relatively high.

That is beginning to change......#3 has given you a couple of budget recommendations. Peach is, I believe, planning to start flights to HK. Cebu Pacific offers connecting budget flights from Osaka to HK via the Philippines.

However as you may be coming from Europe, #1 has pointed you to a very good solution. Check out flying Europe/Japan/HK, and categorize the Japan part (even if it's the longest part of the trip) as the "stopover" on the way to HK. This is sometimes a good way to get lower fares for the whole package, than if you book tickets separately.

Thanks for the suggestions. The multi-city booking option looks like the best solution.
