First time visiting Ireland :- )

Hello Ireland Experts,
My husband and I are going to Ireland for the first time leaving on July 10. We are flying into Dublin and out of Shannon. We are staying in Dublin for 2 nights and then renting a car. We would love comments/feedback on our overnight locations. Are we driving too much? Does this route make sense? I have been reading so many travel books and my head is spinning :- ) Thank you so much to all responder in advance!

July 11 – Arrive Dublin
Jul 11 / 12 - Dublin for 2 nights
July 13 – Kilkenny for 1 night
July 14 / 15 – Waterford/Cork for 2 night
July 16 – Ring of Kerry / Killarney for 1 night
July 17 / 18 – Dingle / Galway (2 nights?)
July 19 – Clare 1 night (?)
July 20 – Depart Shannon

Makes sense, but that is A LOT of driving. I just came from a similar trek in April. 2 days in Dublin. Then Wicklow, Kilkenny, Waterford 1 day. Cork, Kinsale, and Killarney 1 day. Ring of Kerry, Cliffs of Moher and Doolin 1 day. and back to Dublin after that, before I went off to Belfast and Edinburgh.

But for real, slow it down a little. 3 hours driving a day seems just fine and dandy and all, but it's just too fast paced to see a place like Ireland. There's so much there, so many wonderful things.

Visited a relative who works as a head nurse in Dublin the last time out. It was quite rainy but enjoyed it, being used to inclement weather. Next time, I'll bring a pal so my time downing pints of Guinness won't be wasted. Welcome to Ireland!

I hate telling people to skip Galway (my favourite town ) but in this case it makes more sense to stay in the Kerry/Clare area as you are flying out from Shannon on 20th. Long drive for a very short visit, you could visit the Burren area instead.
