Local update needed re: flooding in Surat Thani
Hi all,I was wondering what the state of Surat Thani is at the moment in regards to the flooding? We are interested in breaking up the journey from Bangkok to KL with a stop off there...?
We plan to visit the town, not the provinces or islands as we only have 1 day.
Also, can I really only book the train tickets in person or via an agent? (website says no online or telephone bookings) And, sorry, have we left it too late for the train this weekend?? (need to be in KL by Monday)
Thanks for all information in advance!

I was just on the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Surat Thani a week ago - yes, it's flooding right now, but I'm pretty sure the town of Surat Thani itself isn't flooding. So yes you can visit the town, but I can tell you there's nothing much.3
We plan to visit the town, not the provinces or islandsWhy?????? There's BA there.
IMO go to Hat Yai, as you can easily have a day at the beach.
Flooding will depend entirely on whether it rains just before you go there, or not. It's on the coast, so flood waters will recede quickly.
There is a website to book trains on line. Don't remember the site address, but do a search on TT, as it's been mentioned dozens of times.
