KRUGER QUESTIONS
Hello,We are a family with two children and this August we want to visit the Kruger Park. I have some doubts.
How many days are needed to visit the park? we just want to see the most relevant because we have a few days. We thought in 3 or 4 days.
What Campsites are the most essential? is really necessary book them in advance?
What is better, rent a 4x4 full equiped or campervan in J“bourg or rest in a economic acomodation inside the camps?
Thanks to all

I just checked availability and you will struggle to get anything but a campsite now. The only non camping options available are a few in Mopani, Shingwedzi and Punda Maria - all to the north.Nearly all accommodation from central to south is fully booked. Bookings open 11 months in advance and book out quite early in the popular camps. This close to travel inside the park is really
too late.
3-4 days really is the minimum to appreciate a little of what the park offers.

Check their website SANS Park daily for cancellations. You may be able to find something.Although we booked our cabin in advance during our visit 2 years ago, I noticed that they post an availability listing at each cabin check in. You might also try and call direct.
I also agree with the others that 3-4 days in enough, and you do not need a 4x4. We did a 3 day self-drive throughout Kruger in a rented Chevy sub-compact car that we rented from the Johannesburg Airport.

If you do decide to go the camper route, check out Bobo campers http://www.bobocampers.com/ I haven't used one myself (yet) but saw their products at the Durban Indaba last month and was quite impressed (in the 5 minutes I took to look in so don't take this as a review)6
There are many options to stay outside the Park if getting any accommodations inside prove to hard.We like to stay in Hazyview which provides easy access to three gates into the Kruger. Phabeni Gate is 10 minutes away and also offers night drives.
We have stayed at Sanbonani and Kruger Park Lodge before and liked them both. In fact, we ended up buying a place at Kruger Park Lodge.
If you need further suggestions, please let me know and I am happy to make recommendations.
