Rio Branco accomadation

We are travelling from Rio Branco to Puerto Maldonado on 21/8/12. We arrive at the airport at 1.20am and hopefully getting a bus about 9 hours. Does anyone know anywhere good to stay in Rio Branco, preferably near the long distance bus station. Also does anyone have contact details for the bus station in Rio Branco and Assisi Brasil (on the border not Sao Paulo!) trying to book buses and accomadation and not having any joy on the internet at all. :(

cheers peeps

I have no idea about that particular location, but can say that, generally in Brazil, locations near the bus station are not good areas and should be avoided.
Many bus and airline sites in Brazil, as well as accomodations, are not set up to purchase online, least of all without a Brazilian ID (CPF) and Brazilian issued credit card. However, travelling in August, extreme low season, should not present a problem with finding available tickets or housing on the spot.

I stayed at a hotel just across the road from the bus station which was cheapish and decent enough. This was a few years ago so I don't remember the name or costing, but it was acceptable for one night. From memory there were other options which we didn't bother to look at.

I doubt you could reserve a place online. If you speak Portuguese you might be able to phone one of the hotels listed in Lonely Planet to confirm they are open at that time/ and or make a reservation.

I stayed more than once in hotel Ouro Verde at 50m from the busstation in Rio Branco.
It is very basic and cheap. There is airco and a good breakfast.
The taxi from the airport to this hotel (and busstation) will cost you 50 Brazilian reals.
Good luck
