Any reliable agency for tour Yogyakarta Bromo Surabaya

Hi

Anyone knows any good agency who organise tour Yogyakarta Bromo Surabaya (2days 1 night) at affordable price? I found some online but the price is quite expensive 210$/person.

Actually I want to go independently but I am not sure how to get to Bromo from Yogyakarta by bus (as I heard the bus don't go directly to Bromo) and how to get from Bromo to Surabaya airport. How much to rent a zeep to mt. Bromo?

Sorry I don't know much things about the places so ask quite many questions. Please advise. And as cheap as possible :-)

Thank
Anh

Hi..
The cheapest way and convenience is joining the shuttle bus from Yogyakarta to Probolinggo then other private transfer to Bromo ( Cemoro Lawang ) then the next day is a private car straight to Surabaya Airport.
The Jeep charges you around IDR 350.000,-/ jeep and the accommodation is roughly between IDR 250.000 to 500.000,-/ night / room.
The company organizes this trip is Mahameru Transport..

Good Luck..

cheapest way (based on what I heard from friends and read from other forums) is not to join the tours. This would mean hiking up to bromo and penanjakan instead of riding the jeep.

Via Via cafe in Yogyakarta run trips and have a good ethos behind what they are doing, not sure of the prices

I suggest taking the express train from Yogyakarta to Surabaya. You can then bus or train to Probolingo and catch and mini-bus from there to Bromo. You can share a jeep tour with others and hotels will arrange that. There is tons of info on these forums and most say not to book a tour from Yogyakarta to Bromo.

Once you'll arrive to Yogyakarta, look for a small street called: "Gang 2".
In the middle of that, you can find a small agency travel.
About 50/80 $, and you get it.

Enjoy your trip...

You can book your Bromo tour in Yogyakarta. Alternatively, you can get the train to Malang and book a tour from there. We went from Malang (tours depart at 4am for the sunrise, but you can hire your own vehicle for about $US50 if you want to leave later) and had a great time. I presume the Yogyakarta tours would include overnight accommodation.

I have just done the trip in the reverse direction. If you want to save money by hiking in Bromo, you must enter Bromo from the north via Probolinggo and get to Cemoro Lawang. From here the hike to Bromo is about 1 hour (3k), the hike to Pananjakan View Point 2 is also about 1 hr and view point 1 is a further 1 hr up the mountain. View point 1 can be accessed by jeep on paved road from a longer approach. There is no need to book any tour in advance, as any hotel in Cemoro Lawang can arrange a jeep for you. Even if you just walk toward the view points, objek drivers will stop by and offer you a ride, with a price of course. The ride will only bring you about 3/4 way up the mountain, you still to hike to get a better view.

Maybe you do not want the cheapest but the best. That being the case you might want to deal with a fellow that owns a firm in Yogja that we used twice over the past 2.5 years. He is not cheap but he will get you good discounts at most hotels that will off-set his daily rate. If interested contact: Bobodururtourandtravel.com and aggress it to Wiedy who owns it. You can tell him Stan referred you.

If u wanna get cheaper price, I suggest u not using service of travel agency.

Yeah, bus doesn't go directly 2 Bromo.
Pay bus from Jogja 2 Prob 4 IDR 70K.
Get Bayuangga bus station, then get public transport (call it bison) 4 IDR 25K, but driving when full, commonly around 10 am-1 pm.

U can rent a private car from Sby Juanda airport 2 Bromo around IDR 650K-750K, or get Surabaya Bungurasih bus station w/ Damri, pay IDR 25K, then get bus from Sby 2 Prob, bout IDR 20K.

Don't u want 2 get Probolinggo from Jogja by train?
Get Sritanjung train at 7.30 am, or Logawa train at 9 am.
From train station get yellow public get bus station.

Price 4 rent a jeep:
  • Cemorolawang-Pananjakan 1-Bromo-Cemorolawang is about IDR 350K-450K.
-Cemorolawang-Pananjakan 2-Bromo-Cemorolawang is about IDR 250K-350K.

Good luck.
