Domestic fligths able/not able on-line from outside of Indonesia

Hi,
I decided to buy a couple of fligths within Indonesia.
That is from home, on-line, before the actual trip has begun.
It doesn´t seem to work, and I have gotten some good answer that you can only do this with an indonesian card.
I tried Garuda and Lion, by the way...

Is this the situation?
Or, anybody who has made it???

Your answer most welcome
Erik

Some have managed to get tickets with Lion Air while many cant. Have a look here for posts on how to get around it.

A few Indonesian Airlines can book you on their website (Batavia being one) I had to go through
an indonesian travel agency and set up a Paypal account for LionAir last fall. Unless you have a
tight schedule or are travelling at peak season, it can work out to just to buy tickets after you get to
Indonesia.

Fight the same battle at the moment. Was on the phone with Garuda 15 times today (from the US to the Jakarta call center). Made the reservation and then they transfer you to an automated credit card payment line where you input all of your information and then it tells you the transaction failed. I tried paying online as well. I was assured by more than one Garuda agent that US credit card would work (I tried several different ones.

I booked an AirAsia flight yesterday but also had difficulties. That was more about my banks blocking my cards than about AirAsia's system, though. I was successful in the end with a Visa debit card, but not my unblocked credit credit card. When I lived in Hong Kong, I booked AirAsia flights all the time with a HK credit card - no problems.

Hi tellus112,

As explained at http://www.indonesiamatters.com/4938/booking-indonesian-flights-online/ Indonesian airlines only accept Indonesian credit cards, except:

  • AirAsia

  • Garuda Indonesia officially accepts some countries credit cards, but often doesn't work:
http://flights.indonesiamatters.com/5155-garuda-website-booking-problem/

  • Batavia Air does Paypal in $US only, but charges extra for the "privilege"

Some smaller airlines (e.g. Express Air, Trigana Air, TransNusa) don't have online booking at all.

If you want to be sure of getting the tickets you want, I recommend you try http://flights.indonesiamatters.com/

I booked flights with Lion Air two weeks ago, with an Australian credit card and had no issues. Credit card was charged and e-tickets and itineraries were sent within 10 minutes of making the booking.

I am from Canada and could not book with Lion Air either. I booked with Tiger Airways and Air Asia though. I emailed 3 travel agents; Bidy Tour, Mau Ke Mana (http://flights.indonesiamatters.com), and Lombok Reisen. Bidy Tour offered the best price but they had issues with my credit card as well (no paypal). I have decided to go with Mau Ke Mana, as he was slightly cheaper than Lombok Reisen. They both offer paypal though which is a huge plus.
Hope that helps

Mau Ke Mana is very reputable and will answer all your questions by e-mail. Their fee is typically $15-25
per Indonesian roundtrip flight booked.

Travelindo.com has always come up with the goods for me pay by pay pal they will do any airline as they pay for the tickets in Indo and you pay them with Paypal. Even real remote airlines can be booked if you get them to pay the local travel agent. Small charges apply but nothing unreasonable.

Hi again,
I actually decided to go with Lombok Reisen as he gave me a slightly cheaper quote, I was mistaken before. All 3 travel agents were helpful and prompt though.
