Buying a ladies kurta in delhi

We are travelling for 6 weeks in India from end of November . I Would like to buy a couple of kurtas for me and my 14 year old daughter to both travel around in and also some to take home as I have a couple of nice ones bought in Malaysia and Singapore. Can anyone give advice on a reasonably priced place in Delhi as this is our first stop and we will be moving on north and them Varanasi and Rajasthan at this stage. Thanks . Jen

My wife (unfortunately) loves Fab India. There would be several of their shops in Delhi
(1 is in Greater Kailash N-Block). The huge selection is very good quality at reasonable
(fixed) prices. Check their website: http://www.fabindia.com/

A couple others are Pantaloons and Ethnicity, both owned by the Future Group. My net is junk today so can't give you locations in Delhi, but I'm certain that Pantaloons is there at least - Ethnicity is new and 1st store was in Ahmedabad 2 years ago.

Yes, Fab India is the go!
Never seen anyone disappointed with their East meets West appoach to ethnic swoosh.

Another vote for Fab India, for ladies clothes at least, my friend loves them and gets all of her Kurta there. I don't think their mens selection is nearly as good.

Also try the Karol Bagh market, or Chandni chowk in Old Delhi for cheaper private retailers but check the quality (stitching, durability etc) before buying and put your haggling hat on.

Whilst your in Varanasi the open hand cafe near assi ghat is a great place for clothing the east meets west approach is similar to fab India, its a little expensive but they support various social causes and you can be assured of excellent quality and good service (if theres something wrong with the item they'll refund you, rare in India) open hand

You won't be able to walk through a market without seeing at least a few. Just shop around.

Recommend visiting Dilli Haat market. The metro stops two minutes walk from this market filled with high quality vendors offering goods at very fair prices. Take the Metro to the stop INA.

I actually prefer Anokhi to Fab India. There is a fantastic one in Khan Market, upstairs. I spent hours and hours there and bought tons of stuff, clothing and cushions and bags as well! Amazing stuff...and styling is great for wear in the West as well as India.

Take the metro to Shaadra, you will be well away from the tourist trail and expensive shops. Just walk around the main streets and you will be spoilt for choice.
