Two weeks in Indonesia
My partner and I are planning 2 weeks in Indonesia late in the year, we are not looking to stay anywhere luxurious. If anyone has suggestions for nice accomodations that is reasonably priced, please let me know. We would like to get some diving in and explore the island. Looking to try and stay away from the busy tourist area'sThanks in advance,
Tim.

Indonesia has around 18,000 islands. Do you want to be a bit more specific which one you're referring to?2
Do you want to snorkel or dive in great places for 3-4 days, do you want to see amazing 8th Century Buddist and Hindu temples, active volcano's, see magnificant natural agricultur, be on or very near lovely beaches or do you want to hike a lot? Is your room and board budget $125 or $225USD/day? Would you spend $350/person on domestic airfare throughout the 2 weeks. Obviously you cannot do all of the above but maybe 2-3 and there are some places where in 2 stops you can get on just about all of the above for a few dollars more. If you had more time the cost might not go up because you could use trains, which are not ideal, but with 2 weeks (plus you loose most of the day of arrival and departure generally). Once you have clarified these some on this Forum can assist you.4
I try to divide in two categories:Easy:
Nusa Lembongan. Bali. A small island in front of Sanur. A little boat bring you there in 1 hour. When you arrive in the harbour, turn on the left side and choice one of the last hotel. Are cheapest and you can trade the price.
It's perfect for diving and relaxing. And you are near to Ubud (the cultural heart of Bali), Tirta Gangga (a world heritage site) and the montains.
Adventure:
Choose North Sulawesi. Near Manado area you can find a lot of secret jungles, wild rivers, uncontaminated beaches and a such of small island look like the paradise. Bunaken is famous on the world about its diving spots....are incredible!!!!!
Or you can find something expecial also in Lombok. South, Kuta area. North, Gili Islands!
Enjoy your trip...

Though travelers are permitted to suggest guides they have actually used individuald such as "winnnerisyourinner" by Lonely Planey" regulations are not permitted to sell their services on this Forum. Though I am not a real stickly if done too offer Lonely Planey will disable you from signing-in. Sorry, it's just the rules. I recommend 2 guides I have used in Indonesia several times but that is partially the exact intent of the Forum.6
Well certainly sulawesi but there are many places of course. Or Banten. I've seen a tv show that documents a trip to Banten and the sea there is fantastic. I think it's in Ujung Kulon. It's really nice from what I saw. Just google Banten and its recreation areas I don't think many tourists have gone there.7
Banten is the name of the westernmost province on the island of Java. It's a much bigger area than just Ujung Kulon and it's incredibly popular with tourists although these are mainly Indonesians getting away from Jakarta for the weekend. The beaches along the west coast are OK and safe for swimming - the further south you go away from the industrial area around Anyer the better but I wouldn't describe the beaches or the sea along there as "fantastic" #6. Tanjung Lesung is probably the pick of the ones I've been to and that's probably five hours drive from Jakarta.Posters should stick to recommending places they've actually been to.
