Lake Bohinj AccommodationI will be travelling from Ljubljana to Lake Bohinj and trying to figure out the best way to get there and find accommodation. My thought was taking a train or bus to Bohinjska Bistrica then taking a bus to Ribcev Laz. The book said it should be simple enough to find a place to stay from there. The thought is staying there for 4 days or so and using it as a base for Tolmin and Kobarid. We (two people) are going in June.
Any other ideas or comments would be useful.

1Hi Sara and Steve!
The information centre at Ribcev Laz can definitely find accommodation for you. There are plenty of places to choose from, both in Ribcev and cute little nearby villages like Stara Fuzina and Studor.
We have stayed at the Hotel Bohinj and it was ok but nothing overly special. Nice views of the lake.
We also recommend the apartments in Stara Fuzina called the "Rabic".
Bohinj is a beautiful peaceful place.
We wouldnt necessarily use it as a base for Tolmin,Kobarid as they are on the other side of the Alps and it is hard to get there except for the Vrsic Pass etc.
For a great base on the Tolmin side, we recommend the wonderful apartments in Most Na Soci called the Apartment Most - http://www.apartma-most.com or the equally great apartment Jojo in Bovec.
Both have great views and are great for sightseeing and hiking.
Let me know if you need more info

2Second the comment about using Ribcev Laz as a base for Tolmin and Kobarid. Bohinj is kind of out on a bit of a limb, and without a car it's very hard to get anywhere else from there. Even with a car you have to either drive back to Bled and go over the Vrsic or else go over a very hairy (But beautiful) pass to get to the Skofja Loka - Tolmin road which is very, very twisty indeed! Bohinj is a great area to base yourself though - good mountain walks, the lake, Slap Savica, Mostnice Gorge etc. Bled is fairly easy to reach by bus if I recall.

If you're staying in Bohinj, it is not easy to get to Tolmin\Kobarid by public transport.
You can take the train from Bohinjska Bistrica to Most Na Soci, then bus up to Tolmin.
What is it you want to see in Tolmin?
Probably 2 nights in each might be better.

5In Tolmin we are hoping to see the Tolmin Gorges. We found in a Travel Slovenia book and decided to look into it. The main issue is that there is little to nothing about it in LP or Rough Guides...hence the confusion.

6The Tolmin Gorges are beautiful, and it's very weird they don't appear in LP at all. I believe it is possible to walk up from the town, although we drove to get there. It looks a bit like this: Tolmin Gorge. From Kobarid you can reach the stunning Kozjak Waterfall, of which there is mention in the guidebooks.
