Vietnam visa
Hi FolksI will be entering Vietnam overland from Kunming China, and there seems to be different opinions about a visa.
Can I get a visa in Kunming? how long will it take? Has anyone secured one there recently?
I have searched faq's posted here and can't find anything solid
I'm American and will be entering after a month in China
Thanks

Yes you can. Google "vietnam consulate kunming" for the address1 No. 155 Beijing Road (2 blocks north of the main railway station)

Just remember, when you fill out the form, one question is "Expected date of Arrival" (or something like that). That is the date your visa will become valid whether you enter Vietnam then or not. It will expire exactly one month from that date, NOT from the date you actually enter Vietnam. You can arrive later but it will still expire at the one month mark on application form.6
From Kunming, China, you can apply for a visa to Vietnam at Vietnam consulate in Kunming below:Visiting Vietnam consulate in Kunming
The cost is around 400 RMB (~US$50), single 1 month, and issued in 3 days.

If you travel by air to Vietnam, possibly to get visa code in USA or apply visa on arrival, get visa stamp at airport and pay stamping fee to immigration office.
