eger wine festival in august?
we accidentally went to one a couple of years ago, in the evening.in the main square, you could buy a glass for 500ft, then 100ft tokens. there were several stalls (20?) where you could exchange tokens for wine samples, as well as food stalls. it was lovely, but unfortunately we only had 2 hrs before it closed, and this had been the last night.
i'm trying to find something similar for this august, but it keeps coming up as bull's blood festival, and this wasn't, there was a broad range of wines. there's nothing on the hungary tourism website.
anyone have ideas? maybe it's cancelled?

No first-hand experience, but looking around the Hungarian webpages, apart from the Egri Bikavér (Bull's blood) festival you mentioned from 5 to 8 July, the only other wine festival I found was in early April. It fits your description with wine glasses for HUF 500 and tokens for HUF 200, 23 wine producers and 26 wines. The difference being the festival took place in the castle and there was a HUF 800 entrance fee. (see page in Hungarian)It could be that Eger has been shuffling around its wine festivals.
There also seems to be an open cellar day this coming weekend.

There doesn't seem to be anything in August. At least related to wine. There is a folk dance weekend from 17 to 20 August and of course the unmissable underwater hockey world championship later in the month.Do you know Kecskemét? There is a wine festival on the main square here from 21 to 27 August and it is a pleasant town.

If you ask me the best wine festivals are at the Balaton Lake in the summertime. Balatonfüred, Balatonalmádi and Badacsony has various festivals in August. Okay, these wines are mostly white and not red but whatever... a festival at the lake is always great!
