Krabi with 18mth old & 3.5yr old... Suggestions?

Hi,

I went a bit nuts with an online airfare sale, and ended up booking a family holiday for Feb- Mar 2013 to Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand!

Most of these places we have been before, so know where to stay etc, except for Thailand. We fly in to Krabi airport and have 6 nights before we fly out to Vietnam via KL. I'm unsure of where would be the best place to stay with the kids ( 18 mths and 3.5yrs).

We're not really into '5 star' and kids clubs etc, but would like to stay somewhere fairly laid back, picturesque and not too much of a 'party' destination. Also something with plenty to do for the hyperactive dad... snorkelling, kayaking, hiking etc... I'm happy to sit and chill on the beach...

I've been looking at Railay, Ao Nang, Koh Phi Phi... thought 'd throw it open to the forum to see if anyone has any good ideas!

Appreciate any feedback you have!
Thanks!

I'd go for Railay everytime.
Amazing beaches and wonderful sunsets.

Ao Nang is a tourist hole and the beach is crap.

Phi Phi is also a hole with a gap year party crowd.

The sunsets would be the same at Railay, Ao Nang and Phi Phi. After seeing thousands of sunsets I'm not sure what's so amazing about them. Railay has 1 good beach and 1 muddy area. There is a better beach some 600m away at Phra Nang though.

Krabi doesn't have off the beach snorkelling that's much good but you can hire kayaks. The travel agents can arrange many tours.

Phi Phi has very good snorkelling straight off several beaches. Away from the main tourist area called Ton Sai, it's a nice island.
