Wondering about cell phone service in the Rockies/Kootenays

Hi there,
I have a Fido phone. The map of Canada on the Fido website shows areas with coverage in yellow, but the places I'm visiting on my Rockies-Kootenays road trip next month look suspiciously non-yellow. Is that just yet another weird aspect of Fido's so-called "services," or is the terrain such that lots of the towns in the area can't get cell phone service from any provider?
Thanks.

As Fido uses the Rogers network, coverage is pretty poor in the mountains. The Bell & Telus networks provide much better coverage, but even they aren't great once you get away from the major routes & towns.

not surprisingly, cell coverage in mountainous and remote areas is sketchy.
That applies to all carriers.
