Travel Buddy - USA Summer 2013

Hi,
My names Faye i'm 23..
I'm wanting to travel to have some fun in America in 2013 from around June/July for about 3 months
I'm just looking to get in touch with some people who have traveled america before and can offer some ideas on the best places to go and also people who also want to travel around that time.
The main places I want to go are NY, San Francisco and L.A and Chicago

If you are interested in joining me or have any ideas for places to visit let me know

Faye

"best places to go"

An absolute must see is 'Fallingwater' in Pennsylvania. Anyone who visits the USA and does not go there is an absolute idiot in my opinion. Not going is like going to Rome and not seeing the coliseum.

Hope that helps you with your list faye.

Those places you mentioned are pretty generic. Everybody goes to those places. May I suggest a new location for you to visit? Charlotte, NC is one of the best kept secrets in the United States. People may argue with me on that because they never been there. But, if you come to my city I would be honored to show you around. There's a lot to do here. I am currently visiting Medellin Colombia. Glad I didn't go to Bogota. They had a bomb to explode there yesterday. NOT COOL AT ALL!! Freakn terrorists these days...I tell ya!!!

Where are you coming from anyway?

I'm from Nottingham in the u.k.
Those are the main places I want to visit but as I'll be visiting for three months I'm sure I will visit loads more places, as I do also want to visit some places that are not big on the tourist/generic route for everyone :) I have just searched the Internet for Charlotte,NC and it does look/sounds pretty awesome.
Explosions totally not cool. Are you taking a vacation in medellin Colombia?

#3 Yes I am on vacation. Just relaxing is all. Well, kind of, I do have finals this week so I haven't been able to completely relax and enjoy my vacation. Really have no plans other then that and whatever I feel like doing as the days approach. Yes Charlotte is an awesome place. So much crammed into one little, yet amazing, city. There are also videos on YouTube if you care to look. The people are nice too. Very welcoming.

Yahoo Finance voted Charlotte NC as one of the best places to live. Not sure if that means anything to you. I would suggest traveling to other places then NY, LA, San Francisco, and Chicago. Because they are huge cities and some of which you may encounter horrible attitudes. (i.e. NY). You may get the wrong impression of what the USA is about. The USA is actually a great country despite what you may have or haven't heard. Just my opinion. Whatever you do hope you enjoy your time here.

Hey there! I'm from Florida and if you have the chance to get down south I'd say hit that up! (although maybe do that towards the end of your trip, florida in August is HOT). I also went to school in Boston- fabulous city, and staying in the new england corridor in the summer is nice (I live in CT, which is 2 hours both ways to Boston and NYC, plus you can do block island, long island, Martha's Vineyard, and Newport Rhode island. Plus if you want to take a bus/Train, there's washington DC 6 hours south.

never heard of poster # 2- 'fallingwater'...and I've lived around this area for 20 years!

Apparently Gwen you and the OP missed the tongue in cheek nature of my suggestion. 'Best place to go' depends entirely on the interests of the person going. Florida for example is about the last place in the USA I would want to spend time in.

Fallingwater is a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Unarguably America's greatest architect of all time. The house is arguably the most beautiful house to be found anywhere in the world. So for someone interested in architecture it would be a 'must see'.

http://www.google.ca/search?q=fallingwater&hl=en&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=DOW3T4iMCuP46QGNu6DKCg&ved=0CH4QsAQ&biw=1280&bih=695

Completed in 1939 the house is as beautiful today as it was then. Classic good design is timeless.

I find posts asking for 'must sees' and 'best places' rather dumb when they give no indication of what the writer's interests are. Hence I gave an answer that would make sense for someone interested in architecture but be of no interest to someone interested in Florida beaches for example. Both my suggestion and YOUR suggestion are pointless if the OP does not indicate what HER interests are. MY interests and YOUR interests are irrelevant.

lol geesh travelinstyle46 -- why so rude? She asked for ideas, we all gave her some- that's what these boards are for! I don't tell people my interests necessarily- because you might have an idea for me that I never even thought of! You're so snotty about it though, I'm not sure I'd follow your ideas in the end.

Rude? I'm direct, not rude. But let me try to put this in as nicey, nicey a way as I possibly can.

What these boards are for is intelligent questions.
