Philippines Diving

Hi

Going to visit some friends in Manila within the next 3 months, but main part of trip I would like to hit some beaches and do some diving......anywhere within Philippines.

Any suggestions of great places for diving would be great.

Cheers

From Manila, Puerto Galera is easily accessible and has good diving and good beaches nearby. Also Anilao is close to Manila. If you have time to fly then Visayan region has many good diving areas, Cebu, Bohol, Negros etc. But check the weather situation if you are heading there in next few months, at that time best diving conditions will be on the eastern side, so places like Sogod Bay in Leyte..

No, I mean WW2 wrecks, Spanish galleons, the whole shooting match.
Varies between easy and almost impossible.
You need to work at it though, it's not handed on a plate.

I thought Sogod Bay and Apo Island were the best. http://www.sogodbayscubaresort.com/ You can look at the " getting there" box. I think it was 2 dives a day.

Dumagete/Apo Island. I don't know about sand beach. Some nightlife.

I think we did three dives a day. It has more fish and great coral. I could dive there 2 or 3 days at either place and be happy. Both places world class.

You can get to either place in one day but you must factor in your time between your last dive and the flight back to Manila. That's 2 days of travel and 3 days diving. at best. It should work out with a late flight back. Good luck on visibility.

Nothing to do at Sogod Bay after diving. From 2pm on you need to read a book, watch TV, get up early and watch the sun rise and take a afternoon nap, drink beer or all of the above. I would go there in a heartbeat.

If you go there on Friday they do a night dive that is well worth it.

Hi ck100

If you get a chance, visit Malapascua and dive with the awesome Thresher sharks and if you are lucky Mantas as well. The beaches are beautiful there and not overly commercialised
