Question about domestic flights in Vietnam
I was wondering if I should book my flight before I leave or do it later on when I'm there or in Cambodia? I have an extra five days and was thinking of going up to Hue/Hoi An. I'd be coming and returning to HCM. I kind of like the idea of keeping things open for whatever happens but I wouldn't want to get stuck and lose a day. More important is getting back to HCM for my midnight flight to Tokyo.Any thoughts would be great. Thanks.

You might run into a problem with trying to use a credit card -- if you are booking a flight on Vietnam Airlines (the agent might insist on cash). Try Jetstar instead -- they have several in-country routes in Vietnam. I flew from Da Nang to Saigon on Jetstar in 2008, tried to book the day of the flight -- oops, bad idea. But one day before would have been okay.Agents outside Vietnam who sell tickets for Vietnam Airlines are likely to gouge you, so don't do that.
You should also consider the train -- scenic, a bit bumpy, but fun. Stops in Hue -- btw, both Hue and Hoi An are well worth your time. See:

is http://www.vietnamairlines.com/ a safe/reliable operator? Their prices seem ok to me between PQ and Saigon
