Vihren Hut
Does anyone know the cost of staying at Vihren Hut near Bansko? Do I need a reservation to stay there or can I just show up? Is food available there?Thanks,

Hi.The cost was around 5 or 6 euros a few years ago. Food is available. You don't really need a reservation, but it can be wise in peak season. However my experiences show that even when packed no mountain hut will kick you out when the hour is late and you can't reach anywhere else, they'll squeeze you in.

Thanks for the info. What other huts did you stay in while in Bulgaria? Did you find they all sold food / meals? Did the cost vary widely from hut to hut?Chris

I only stayed in Vihren hut. I have mostly used huts in Romania and Slovenia. Usually all manned huts offer food and beverages. But bear in mind that depending on the hut the food and especially beer can be (much) more expensive than in the towns below as they use helicopters to ship the goods. The cost within a country is pretty much the same, give or take a few euros.
