Hiking Verdon Gorge/Bus transportation
Hi! My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Francy, Italy and Austria this summer. We would really like to check out the Verdon Gorge but are having trouble figuring out what city to stay in/how to get to the hiking trails. If at all possible we would like to avoid renting a car but, if totally necessary, we would. Also, any advice on the best trails to hike would be greatly appreciated (we aren't super experienced hikers but have done our fair share of it).1
As it is a secret where you are from and how you will come to the Verdon valley it is difficult or not possible to give you any advises.http://www.alpes-haute-provence.co.uk/content/verdon?cms=Pleasure+of+discovering&cms2=Contemplate

You wrote Avignon so I suppose you will take the train from Paris. Aix en Provence would be better as nearer to the Grand Canyon. From here you can take public busses in the Department 04, Alpes-de-Haute Provence from this company: http://www.info-ler.fr/fr/lignes-horaires/carte-et-fiches-horaires-n287Bus Schedules for downloading Alpes-de-Haute Provence bus-lines map and bus-line schedules pdf for each line (link for PDF files).
