Lijiang - Shangri La return trip
Hi fellow travellers,I will be exploring Lijiang in mid May, and as part of the last leg of my trip, I plan to make a trip to Shangri La for a 2 day 1 night stay. I'll need to return to Lijiang on the second day. I have a bit of a challenge trying to get information on bus travel from Shangri La to Lijiang, can anyone help? Thanks!
Btw, is the below information accurate? Did some research and found this online, but it seems to be outdated, especially in terms of cost:
Departure station: Lijiang Transport Service Center Bus Station
Location: at Changshui Road to the southwest corner of Lijiang Old Town
Departure time: 07:30, 08:30, 09:00, 10:30, 12:00, 12:30, 13:30, 14:30, 15:00
Ticket price: CNY 35

In mid-November the bus trip Lijiang-Shangri-La was RMB 67. Bus station info is correct, but you'll need to taxi or bus (#11?) from Old Town. Times are approximately correct but you must ask when you get to Lijiang since they are subject to minor adjustments. I was at the bus station for something else 2 days earlier and purchased my ticket in advance at that time to get my preferred departure. Important: there are different quality buses on this route: I wanted the biggest, nicest express bus (stops briefly at Qiaotou only) and therefore got the 8:30 rather than one of the earlier departures. Seems to me there was a 7:20 and an 8:00 also, before the 08:30. My bus went out nearly full. It's a 4-hour trip.3
Hi!I am travelling to Lijiang mid-May too, Tiger Leaping gorge and Haba mountain. We have 3 extra days after the trek in Lijiang because of flights, and we are trying to plan something. Maybe Shangri-la but I wonder if its not a lot of bus trips...

It's actually a nice scenic bus ride, especially the part from Qiaotou to Shangri-La. There is some sporadic road construction and congestion on the Lijiang-Qiaotou section but not horribly bad or time-consuming. But if you have an onward flight out of Lijiang, you'd have to return the same way. Unless you change your flight to one from Shangri-La so the bus route is only one way northbound. Or, change your itinerary and start up in Shangri-La, then down to Haba and TLG, then finish in Lijiang for flight out.ADVERTISEMENT
