Bus Cebu - Barcolod:bestoptions

Hi there I will be arriving in Cebu from Singapore on a Tiger flight which gets in at 11.40am on a Sunday. I want to go to Barcolod the same afternoon. No useful Cebu Pacific flights available, as they all go back via Manila. Would Ceres liner be my best option or are there other buses? I want to make sure I take the most direct route as opposed to going all the way around the top of Negros. Any suggestions on how to organise this ? Do Ceres Liners leave from the southern bus terminal?

Thanks for your advice and information. Oh and how long, approx, is the trip?

Thats a long trip! I think there is a Ceres bus that goes from Cebu City South Bus Terminal to Bacolod via Toledo City ?? But no idea how many of these leave each day? Otherwise get Ceres bus to Dumaguete, about 5 hours trip, then from Dumaguete Bus Terminal to Bacolod, about 6 hours trip..

Just checked and Cebu Pacific has 7:20 am flights Cebu to Bacolod, might be easier to stay overnight in Cebu City and fly next morning?

that is a good find about the bus out of the North bus station. I have seen buses direct all the way to Bacalod but I would have thought it was the south bus station. However even if you couldn't get a direct bus I would still go the Toledo-San Carlos route, I would use that route no matter what. It would be a lot faster than going via Dmgte. My suggestion would be to go to the north station if your coming from the airport and see what they have. Get a bus to San Carlos if their is not a direct one to Bacolod. I bet you could continue to make the connections all the way to Bacolod once you got started or you could spend the night in San Carlos. Its a nice little town...I suppose there could be an issue with catching the ferry from Toledo. If your too late to get a bus that will take you all the way to San Carlos that day I would spend the night in Cebu and head out early in the morning. You should be able to make it to Bacolod by the afternoon if you leave Cebu in the morning via San Carlos, I have done it.

OK thank very much. I don't want to go via Dumaguete as I will be going there later. However last year I caught the same flight then jumped in a cab to the southern bus terminal, caught a bus to Lilo An then Ferry over and I was in Duma by 7.00 pm. I was hoping to do kinda the same this this year. I have read the trip over the mountains is good. Actually the place want to end up in is Silay...I am just expecting that its going to be easier to get to Barcolod and stay o/night there then get to Silay the next day.

yea I am familiar with Silay, the hangup is the Toledo-San Carlos ferry. Hey, found a schedule, seems the last one is 6pm. There should be a bus that coordinates with that ferry. That is a two hour crossing so your not getting to San Carlos until 8pm that night. Its going to be another 6-7 hours on to Bacolod, so you could probably go all night or spend it there in San Carlos and make it to Silay the next day.

There are buses from Cebu south bus station every 15 mins going to Toledo for php60.
then you can take www.lite-shipping.com ferry at 07.30/1pm/6pm over to San carlos fares from php190.
then from San carlos the bus fare to Bacolod is php120. Total =php370
if you go on the Ceres bus the fare is php420 + the ferry fare from php190 total php610.

there are places to stay in San carlos for as low as php125 per night.

the way to do it would be to get the first bus to Toledo and and get the fast ferry, that would get you to San Carlos in half an hour, last one is at 2:30, not enough time I guess, that be sweet if you could make that though. Odd they quit running them so early in the day

thanks for all the info. Have decided to bite the bullet and go for the flight the next morning as it will get us to Silay at 8 in the morning. We can head straight to the tourist office and organise ourselves to get up to Patag. This will give us an afternoonn to have a look around a few places in Cebu which I have not done before.

That seems to be a good option. I'm from Bacolod and I was there two weeks ago. I went to Murcia to spend a day in one of the mountain resorts there.
