Rome to Milan Malpansa airport
My wife and I (80 year olds) will be travelling from Rome to catch a plane (at 21.55) from Malpensa airport in Milan in August. I can see how to get from Rome to Milan by train but can anyone tell me the best way for us to get from Milan Central to Malpensa and how much time to allow on a Saturday? We will each have a suitcase and carry-on backpack. We prefer to be cautious and would rather arrive early than at the last minute.Thank you for any suggestions.

The easiest way is by bus - see http://www.airportmalpensa.com/airport-bus.html . Buses run 2 - 3 times per hour and despite anything they say, I would allow a minimum of an hour for the journey. From memory - its quite a long time since I made this journey - as you get off the train in MilanoCentrale and head towards the exit, the airport coaches depart from street level on your far left, but things may have changed since my last visit.3
Either train all the way (incidentally, there also is one daily through train from Rome to Milan's Malpensa airport, but it arrivvs there around 4.30 PM, i.e. probably too early for you), or perhaps a domestic flight (choose EasyJet if your flight out of MilaN leaves from T2, Alitalia if it is out of T1).4
Roma Termini dp 15.00 - Milano Centrale 18.00/18.25 - Milano Malpensa airport Terminal 1 ar 19.177
Why go down to the ground floor and out of Milano Centrale railway station if you can just change to a Malpensa Airport Terminal 1 (intercontinental flights) bound train inside the station, not far from the place where the train from Rome will arrive?9
You can find full information on buses and trains on the Milan Airport webiste at www.milanairportnet
