I like to thank everyone who has participated in this thread. You have not only answered my question, but also contributed to an interesting platform for discussion.

I also like to thank Chinashark for your input - I did not realize tip-pooling is practiced in all restaurants in United States, not just in Chinese restaurants. Battybilly, is this what you consider "pure communism"?

So after forty some responses, something dawned on me: we have been summoned here by the spirit of Friedrich Hegel, to talk about money, wages, pooling of tips, pure communism, etc. to demonstrate that, today, after the first decade of twenty-first century, Marxist Leninist ideology lives on --- in the back rooms of Chinese American restaurants.
