The first question would seem to be WHO you are using to send text messages to him?

E.G. Ipipi? Cuballama?

How, and through whom, are you sending the messages?

Lots of people have been reporting problems with Cubacel over on www.cubaamor.org. In 3 years I have never has as many problems communicating with Cuba as I have in the last few weeks.

As far as I can understand, it doesn't matter which company you use to send messages to Cuba, as once they are delivered to Cuba they are routed through Cubacel, and that is where the problems lie.

The problem was during the Pope's Trip in Cuba and many cell phone lines was blocked (Do not get SMS from other countries) Cubacel continue blocked many lines after the Pope gone. Do you continue with same problem? I can call Cubacel to find out more but they don´t explain never deeply what is going on.

The problem started well before the Pope's visit, for me. The first time an SMS did not arrive in Cuba, for me, was March 9th.

Cuballama, I believe, posted on their website that Cubacel was having equipment problems.

I still cannot send an sms to Cuba through ipipi, keep getting the "network problem" message when checking phone status. I've been receiving calls from Cuba, however, so I have no clue were the problem lies. R

Maybe they are busy switching over to the new high-speed cable ?

Maybe not.

This has been post on CubaAmor :

I read this on the Apr 6th blog of Orlando Luis Pardo Lazo titled "Praying to Ratzinger Between the Bars of the Revolution". .................
"From a few days ago, the State telephone companies — ETECSA & CUBACEL — were complicit in the operation unofficially called “Vow of Silence” and blocked, without any technical reason, thousands of their users’ lines, without notice or right to compensation. They also cut all the very limited internet service, which in Cuba is the privilege of foreigners and a certain caste of officials." ........

No surprise here.

There we go again :( My friend doesn't receive my messages or e-mails. He manage to send me e-mail last night ,telling me that he doesn't have anything from me. I have been e-mail, text and miss-calls everyday. Does anybody have this problem ?

For me, there have been no problems calling. I was able to make a call this afternoon. But my messages have not been delivered for the last three days and I have not received any either.

Ya, they picked a few thousand people at random and blocked incoming messages (outgoing seem to be working ok). Sounds like a plan, to me.

If the blog post suggests this started at the beginning of April, then I believe it even less since people started to report this issue in early March and I started to have problems on March 6th.

If they had blocked known dissidents, only, then that article might have a shred of truth to it. Calls do not seem to have been affected, so blocking incoming SMS seems to lack purpose. Of course it is my opinion.

I have the same problem since April 11. None of my sms are received in Cuba whoever is the recipient. I called Fido several times and today they told me that this problem happened in the past and when the system at Cubacel thinks you are texting too much, they put your number in the Spam category.

Any clue on how to fix this problem? Anyone in the same situation?
