Hello,I am looking for an area where indigenous people still lead a traditional lifestyle in Ecuador. I would like to go with a local indigenous guide, not a package or organized tour. In fact, I would like to be as far from the areas visited by such tours as possible. I speak Spanish and have experience both with the jungle and indigenous people in other parts of the world. Does anyone have useful recommendations? Thank you so much!

If you look further south towards Macas you will be in a town not frequented by many tourists. There are a few agencies that will take you into Shuar territory, but you will need a Spanish speaking Shuar guide to go deeper into their reserve.
