Where to travel by yourself as a woman?

So my boyfriend and his brother are attending a Star Wars exhibit at the science center in Montreal in May. I was originally going to go as well, but considering I've been to Montreal 4 times I thought I'd skip it. I am still itching to go somewhere for the long weekend. Any suggestions on where to travel for that time frame (Victoria Day Weekend) possibly by myself.

I live near Toronto, Ontario so travel time is going to be a factor considering I only have a limited amount of time.

Hi....

Suppose it depends on your budget - really.
It's possible to get to just about anywhere in Canada from point A to B, if you've the wedge.

That's kind of a hard question not knowing if you have your own car and what your interests are. I could suggest maybe a trip along the Bruce Trail somewhere.

In Canada, Ottawa or Quebec City?

If you fancy crossing the border, and can get a cheap flight, maybe somewhere like NYC, Boston, Philly, Washington DC or Chicago?

Sorry for my lack of detailed info.

I do not have a car, and my budget is roughly $600 for 2-3 nights. I live about 1 hour outside of Toronto. I like nature, architecture, history and food when I travel. Last trip I went on a couple of months ago was Chicago (which was fantastic).

In that case, just try to get one of those super cheap deals on Megabus that will take you to the Eastern Seaboard for $1 or so.

#5 - looking at Megabus:

Toronto - NYC / Philly / Washington = around 10-11 hours each way.

Unfortunately, over the May long weekend, no "super cheap deals" appear to be available.

If only going away for 2-3 nights, I'm not convinced that a couple of lengthy bus journeys (at a not particularly cheap price) is a great option?

Shame, because the US cities would be worth a look.

Maybe worth checking further into Ottawa & Quebec City?

Sure Ottawa would be all right. It has the best collection of museums in Canada and a very beautiful natural setting. I am sure you could keep busy there for three days.

I also don't think bus travel is the best idea, only because I have a long weekend so I want to cut down on travel time as much as possible.

I've been to Ottawa it is a lovely city and does have some great museums but I don't know if I would go back. I'm thinking of possibly heading to Stratford, Quebec City, Niagara on the Lake or possibly head to NYC for a couple of days.

I really wish there was a website where you could just put your parameters in (dates of trip and where you're heading from, price range) but would allow you to leave the destination blank. That way you could see where you can go in your price range. I'm not always determined on a destination, it would be a great way to visit cities you would normally not consider.

Niagara on the Lake would be pretty boring if you are not with your boyfriend. Its more of a boutique town, with lots of stores and B&Bs. if you have never been to Quebec City before it might be worth a look, as it could fill up two days easily and assuming you can get a free ride to Quebec City. NYC would be recommendable, there is almost always something interesting going on there.

Go to Montreal for a long weekend; it's a great antidote to Toronto. Transportation is easy: Good train service; Air Canada and Porter have frequent airfare wars; MegaBus has frequent and cheap coaches. You do not have to go as a man to feel secure.

Yes I looked into Niagara on the Lake and although pretty, seems somewhat geriatric. I may head over towards Quebec for the weekend because I've beent here exploring it on my own might give me a new perspective.

Thanks for all the input!
