Suggestions please : Quality family hotel in Siem Reap?
Hi this has probably be asked one hundred times before but if anyone can suggest some great quality hotels in Siem Reap I would be grateful. I am looking to split our 12 day stay at two places. We are a family of 5. (3 kids under 8)
Ideal features of hotel:
Budget 150 - 200 USD per night
Pool and air con
Benefit of being in town we can walk to get food etc however don't mind tuk tuk travel- so this may not be a major factor in the choice.
any tips would be welcomed
thanks

Lots of choice, try the Victoria Angkor.4
OP lots of places in Cambodia and your budget would allow you to stay in some really nice/posh places. You could spend a lot less and be really happy with the place.Check Travelfish.org for recommendations.
We stayed at Hanumanlaya in 2008 and was really nice place with small pool but about 2 km out of Siem Reap on way to Angkor Wat. If you stay there don't use main road to walk into town but rather cross over the river and use older road that passes through neighbourhoods and has 3 or 4 old small temples you can enjoy. Tuk tuks are always available as well. They also have a "traditional" house they rent out. http://www.hanumanalaya.com/hanumanalaya_house.html

Hotel 89. ( or the wooden angkor hotel as it's also called) located in the tapul village area. It's my favourite hotel in the world ( so far)Large spotless rooms, free tea, coffee and iced water all day. free internet and fantastic staff.
A family suite, which is 2 delux twin/ double rooms with connecting door, as approx $50 a night.

My advice - $160 for a hotel room in Siem Reap is WAY overpriced. Honestly, you can get a really nice place for all that you are looking for, for under $50. Try a guesthouse.12
i just stayed at mother home inn for $27/night for two people. AC, pool, huge breakfast buffet, wifi, spa, airport pick-up. highly recommended.http://www.room.motherhomeinn.com/

Thanks for the judgement. I spent my long days teaching Cambodian doctors how to care for kids, taking long boat rides on the Tonle Sap to evaluate and treat kids, working to find supplies for a chikdren's hospital and donating money to the hospital to help pay for the supplies. Yes we had a lot of luxury in our apartment, and we consumed a lot of resources. As do almost all tourists to Cambodia. Sorry you were offended by that.
