Questions: Ait Benhaddou, the Gorges and Driving in Morocco

I'm planning out my 2 week+ Morocco trip with my family for May. My agenda is pretty much set. I've learned so much from the forum here already - thanks all! I have a few questions for now and maybe a few more later. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

1 - I'm a fairly confident driver. How nerve-wracking is it driving through the Tizi n Tichka pass and how long is this particular section of the 5 hour drive between Marrakech and Ouarzazate. It's the only part of the drive that intimidates me a bit (no I won't be driving in the cities or at dark).

2 - Does one generally take just a couple of hours to see Ait Benhaddou or is there enough to see here for a full day?

If it's just a couple of hours to see Ait B., I guess I'm also kind of wondering whether one can leave Marrakech see the Glaoui Kasbah near Telouet, check out Ait B. and finish the day in Ouarzazate and do these two sites justice - or is this rushing it a bit?

3 - If I were to choose not to rent a car to leave Marrakech. Is it possible to rent one anywhere around the Dades Gorge to drive up the 60km length of it?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I never drove self this piece through the Tizi´n Tichka pass, it was my friend who did that. He is afraid of heights but managed road excelent. It actually feels better to sit in a car and go there than to sit on a bus and look down from the bus, that I tried to avoid when I took a bus there.
So if you say you are a good driver, you would manage that.
Otherwise at first you can go by bus and then rent a car in Ouarzazate so you can go to Ait BenHaddou etc. In Ouarzazate are a few rent a car company.

My response above should have read, 4-5km after the tizi take a sharp LEFT turn on a narrow tarmac..."

Marrakech-Ouarzazate, 200/124 km/mi; 3 ½ hours. Not difficult, just don't hurry.
Yes Ait-Benhaddou is worth an overnight stop; it is much more interesting after the mob of day tourists leave.
I haven't found the Glaoui Kasbah near Telouet that interesting, but many people do.
I doubt very very much you will find a rental car agency near the entrance to the Dades Gorge.

Thanks all for the great and speedy responses! I can't wait to get there. I may have more questions later as I plan out the next leg of my trip.
