Nature based trip to Laos (or elsewhere in SE Asia?)

Hi everybody,
the other day I was thinking about going to Laos next year.
I've been to Southeast Asia a few times (Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia) and had my share of temples and other cultural spots of attention. For the next trip to the region, I'd like to focus on experiencing the nature side of things more.
I read about different travel companies in Laos, hiking trips, possibilities of visiting caves and last but not least the much discussed Gibbon Experience...well, to cut it short:

Have you got any advice which parts of Laos are worth the trip? Would you recommend another region in Southeash Asia? I'm grateful for any hint ;-)

Luang Namtha in Laos. Good hiking there. Hiked on our own and also did multi-day hike with Green Discovery. They are not cheap but they do give about 30% of money to local villagers which we witnessed.http://www.greendiscoverylaos.com/

Boat Landing Eco-lodge in Luang Namtha is great place to stay and have very informative website http://www.luangnamtha.com/. Best food we encountered in a month of travel in lao.

Bolavan Plateau in the south has good hiking you can do on your own.

Not sure what you mean by nature. I think many of the trees around Luang Namtha have been cut down. Better probably to go further east to Phonsali area for trekking. There are a few Nation parks (NPA) that maybe worth checking out. Caves around Vang Vieng and near to Sam Neua in the north east. Gibbon experience is very expensive, so are Green Discovery. Other areas maybe Indonesia or Borneo.

I would agree with #1. Luang Nam Tha was a great nature experience for me.

I did a 3 day trek and really got up in the mountains and saw some nice views, and we even got our fair share of wildlife. I used The Jungle Eco-Guide Services.

Read my blog post on my trek in the Nam Ha NPA if you would like to read more about what kind of experience i had.

Thank you for the replies so far.
I'm mostly interested in jungle hiking/trekking, caves etc.

Luang Namtha is nice. So is the area around Vang Vieng. Luang Prabang is stuning, of course.
