New Masoala Lodge
Hi,I was looking at the Masoala Forest Lodge but have been told by a tour operator there's a new (sounded quite posh) lodge/accomodation opening in Masoala in May 2012, operated by an American who already has 2 other places in Madagascar. "Small Masoala"? Does anyone have any information about it, photos, experiences, how to book, etc? I've not found anything online.

The place I'm now booked at is known as "Le Petit Relais". Same owner as Le Relais Masoala in Maroantsetra. Apparently it has 8 bungalows.I've received French PDF docs giving quite a lot of information. If anyone is interested in learning more from them direct, their contact details are:

I just come back from a Masoala trip and I have seen many environment deteriorations around the Petit Relais project area. Very dirty beaches and trails, polluted water, defaced landscapes…According to a local confirmed guide they have no tourism permit, no environment authorization. It's a shame for ecotourism. On the field the local skilled-workers told me that room won’t be ready before the end of November.

Just stayed at "Petit Relais" as it's known - recommended. Rooms are amazing. Nice to be in a park in Madagascar and feel like we were the only people there! Animals all seen with 30 minutes walk from the lodges and often much closer.http://www.relaisdumasoala.com/petitrelais/masoala_en.html
