Camping in Poland?

I've noticed a few threads on camping in Poland so wondered if anyone could answer this question!

I will be in Poland with two friends for Euro 2012 in June. We have some booked hostel accommodation but plan to spend 4 nights camping (two each in Wroclaw followed by Poznan). We will also have a hire car.

I'm finding it difficult to get any information on campsites in these areas specific to plans for June 2012, and it is virtually impossible to make a booking without speaking perfect Polish. The other option is for us to drive out of town and wild camp each night.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience on either of these options that can offer me advice or make any suggestions? Your help would be greatly appreciated as three guys don't really wanna spend 4 nights straight sleeping in a car!

In Wroclaw there's a camping facility just within the entrance gate of the old (Olympic) Stadium. Pretty bad facilities ('rusty') but imo ok for some nights. Many pitches (esteem 250)
Good tram connection to the centre, and I assume to the new stadium. Since Wroclaw will be European cultural capital in 2016 infrastructure will be and has been improved considerably.

The other option is for us to drive out of town and wild camp each night
Or to drive out of town to a campingsite. This will be easier than driving through Wroclaw to the above campingsite!
Just inform at the Tourist Office. They are/were very helpful.

In Poznan: Malta Camping, http://campingmalta.poznan.pl/en/
Not been there!

Thanks for the hints. Very helpful!

It's good to know that the Tourist Office is helpful. Some are better than others!

Obviously prices will be premium in June and we need to keep track of costs.Although it looks really nice, Malta Camping are quoting me 350 PLN per night. I'm an experienced camper so don't mind sleeping wild and it will be free :-) But we'd rather stay in the city if possible as it will be much easier.

Does anyone have any hints or experience of cheap camping options in either Poznan or Wroclaw?

I'll be very difficult to find cheap camping place near to Poznan or Wroclaw in June. Have you thought about "couchsurfing" or renting someone's backyard for camping?

Good idea I think Macci, what I sometimes see on the Forum: Ukrainan people are often offering a private place (officially not allowed and classified as spam), I haven't seen that from Poland. Though more often a room or apartment.

Macci,

I've have looked into CouchSurfing and it seems to be a good option. The main problem is, although I've been aware of it, i've never done it before myself so don't have a rating which i think will make it more difficult to find someone who will want to have three mid-20s men staying with them for a couple of nights. Also, I have no ability to offer a couch either which, understandably, will probably seem quite dodgy when contacting people! Will keep trying, though.

Does anyone think there are any dangers involved in wild camping near-ish the roadside just out of town?

I guess good option for you would be accomodation at Carslberg Fancamp, they will build such in each host city plus Cracow. It will cost 25eur/night and sell start soon, 29 of February.

Also, fan exchange project was announced today, the site will be launched April 1st. That will focus on culture and social experience exchange.

Hey, One more piece of news. When I was listening to the radio yesterday I found out that some people will rent their rooms for football fans for free (or small fees) so you should ask about camping on polish forums. The sooner you react the earlier you find the place :)

The fan camp looks like the BEST THING EVER! I would actually live there full-time given the chance. Thank you for bringing it in to my life as our accommodation problem is now solved!
