Young Woman travelling alone

hello my friends's daughter is a young lady who wants to travel alone in India. She is in her late twenties and I am concerned if this is such a good idea. Can anyone please give me any advice.

You've asked a question which is impossible to answer. We do not know the young lady. Is she an experienced traveler? Is she a confident traveler? Does she have any special needs or particular reason why traveling to India would be a problem.

In general, India is a very difficult place to travel, but that's due more to general issues of infastructure, culture shock and other things which can affect anyone.

A woman traveling alone will get stared at and may get some unwanted attention, but that can happen in many countries. We don't know how well she can handle that.

In my opinion, anyone in their late twenties should be old eough to make those decisions on their own.

Good luck to her.

Lake traveller makes very good case ... depends on the person. How is anyone here supposed to answer that question. Hundreds of solo female travelers go to India every year.

But really... late 20's? Definitely old enough to make her own decisions.

It beats Syria at the moment.

Search the threads here, or better yet, let HER search the threads here on the same subject. She´s the one traveling, she´s the one that needs to know if she´ll feel comfortable or not.

I'm with pirate . . . she's the one that's going, she's the one who would know, should know . . . as for the rest of you, her extended family, you all will most likely always be less "comfortable" about than she is.

Do's and Don't.
being at late twenties, say a no,no to adventure in India,Stay in the capitals of any states / Districts they visit. Stay in the reputed and Higher class restaurants. Dress modestly.learn courtesies. And avoid night out in places other than Metros. Guess these will do a lot.

Rape,beatingss,torture,enslavement...she should learn shao-lin and carry non chaku at all times including in the bathroom. After all, as we all know, USA is dengrous place. On the other hand India is piece of cake. She should not sunbathe naked though.
