What to do about flight Tashkent - Urgench?

I will arrive next month at Tashkent in the middle of the night 1.35 coming from Riga with Airbaltic.
As I have only 10 days in Uzbekestan, I would like to take the same day a flight at 7AM to Urgench in order to skip a day in Tashkent.

Therefore I have a couple of questions :
Is the domestic airport a part of the tashkent International Airport?
At what time is the domestic airport open?
Are there are places where one can rest for a couple of hours?
Would doing this be recommended

Thx in advance

@ dakumchik : thx for the info but as I read nothing good about the Tashkent airport I decided to stay in a hotel in Tashkent and travel at another moment to Tashkent.

Hi there,

It might be good for you to know that they have a new airport for domestic flights (including to Urgench)

When I was there last October it had just opened and the hotel & taxi driver didnt know, so they took me to the international airport.

But I guess they should know by now, make sure though you tell them to go to the right airport :)

Enjoy Uzbekistan! (Im sure you will :) )

Best, Hugo

I took that flight in August 2011. We flew from Bishkek to Tashkent, went through customs, left the airport, and walked about 100-200 meters to the domestic terminal. It was very easy, nothing to worry about. There was not much in the terminal, just a very small cafe, and a small shop where you can water and snacks.

When you arrive in Urgench, you can get a taxi to Khiva (I assume you are going to Khiva, very worth it in my opinion). The airport is kinda in the middle of no where, so you can bargain, but at the end of the day, you don't have too many options, unless you want to wait for the bus. It was REAL hot, and I was not in the mood for the bus, so we (probably) overpaid for the taxi.

Not to be a Mr know-it-all, but just dont want you to go to the wrong airport :)

In October 2011 they opened a new domestic airport (the old one was indeed only a 100 meter walk like described above), so the flights to Urgench are not from the international airport....

Enjoy!

Good Morning!
I hope everything went well with your trip to Uzbekistan. My husband and I are planning to do the same in the fall so I've got a few questions for you if you don't mind. How much was the flight? Did you have to buy tickets in advance or will it be ok to buy them on the day of? I've read that there are two flights daily. Do you know at what times they left? How far is the new domestic airport from the international airport? Thanks in advance for your help.
