Lake district Argentina-Chile-any advise for itirenary?

Hi everyone
in 10 days I´ll will arrive to Puerto monnt by the ferry from puerto natales and have no idea where to go next. I mean there is so many places and no idea what to choose. I heard puerto mont is not interesting and because i´ll arrive there early in the morning maybe I can catch bus the same day somewhere but where? What are the best places to take most of the lake district? Small big town trekking in Chille or Argentina any interesting idea will be good. After that I want to head north to Mendoza or santiago maybe Pukon on the way? The cheapest the better so hire a car is not in my budget. (ferry already killed it :) -that was a coin´s choise )
Thanks for any idea

Difficult question. I like Puerto Montt but it is a rather big town. Chiloe is interesting. Pucon, Frutillar and the Lago Todos los Santos are nice places. on the argentinean side, El Bolson is amazing. San Martin de los Andes is nice too. Bariloche is uninteresting itself but close by is Pampa Linda with gots options for trekking. All this area if full of nice places
