Trans Siberian Power

Hi
This website http://www.transsiberian.com.au/itinerary/cabins_trans_siberian.html shows a TV in First Class compartments on the Rossiya. Two questions, Is this standard and if so does that mean that you can unplug the TV and use the power socket?
Thanks
Rocky

As far as I know, the TV is installed in 2-bed compartments only. Such new cars will also have power sockets in the compartment. Older cars and 4-bed compartments in new cars have no TV to unplug.

Thanks, we have booked a two berth first class so is it down to luck whether it's a new or old?

The Rossiya is a branded "firmeniy" train. Not all first class cars will be on branded trains so not all will have tvs or sockets. Are you planning to take the Rossiya or some other train?

In the few cases where I've been in a Russian train compartment with a TV
but no other power outlets, then the TV power cable was carefully buried away
so you couldn't get directly at its power outlet. (I've tried!)

On the other hand I was in a first class compartment on the Rossiya a couple
of years ago and there were convenient power outlets, even although there
was no TV.

There seems to be a lot of variation, but in general I've noticed that nowadays
it seems very likely to find power outlets in any first class compartment.

I've been in the 2 berth Chinese trains and they didn't have TVs, but they did have power outlets.

OK, I think that a piece of general advice will be helpful. Should there be no socket in your compartment, there is surely one in the aisle. To be on the safe side, carry a power strip with a sufficiently long cord, and you will be powered all the time.

Sorry Ruth, I missed your question, we are catching train 002 departing 21.25 on a Monday, I think that is the Rossiya but am not certain. I'm not clear what you mean about "branded" trains.

Branded trains are ones with names like Red Arrow, Baikaler, Rossiya, etc They tend to offer more services, have newer cars and cost more.

There are lots of 02 trains, one leaving from almost every station in Moscow and there are quite a few train stations. The 002 to where? The Rossiya to Vladivostok departs Moscow on odd days and leaves at 23:45 from the Yaroslavskaya station, the 002 to Kazan departs Moscow Kazanskaya station daily at 22:08. There is also a 002 daily from Riga and one from Kyiv as well.

I think there is something wrong with the information that you have presented as I can't find any 002 train departing Moscow at 21:25. Were are you going? and what date are you traveling?

BTW some trains operate certain days of the week and some operate on odd days only or even days only and some are seasonal.
