Weather/Itinerary advice in March pleaseHi all,
My boyfriend and I are planning a holiday in Morocco at the end of March. We’ve only got a week, so not wanting to cram too much in, we have decided on 3 nights in Marrakesh (with a possible day trip to Ourika?), three nights in Essaouira, and the last night back in Marrakesh for our flight the next morning. I notice that this seems to be one of the more popular one-week itineraries, but I’m guessing it’s popular for a reason.
I’m just wondering though if it’s going to be warm enough at that time of year to include Essaouira – will the sea be warm enough to swim in? If not, should we take the second half of the week in the desert, or is Essaouira still worth seeing? We’re reasonably ‘outdoorsy’ people, and don’t really want to spend too long lying around, but a day or so on the beach would be do-able. We did find some very cheap all-inclusive packages (approx £300 pp incl. flights from the UK) for a week in Jan/Feb in Marrakesh, but the backpacker in me doesn’t want to do that!
Thanks in advance for any advice.

1..... take the £300 deal, and head off yourself on short trips by bus or train. The agency organises transport to and from the hotel, they may also have trips that may interest you.
Eassouria is just 3 hours from Marrakech, its nice enough but touristy, look at Eljadida..... http://www.looklex.com/morocco/jadida.htm . using the interactive map on this site workout other possible destinations nearby, don't get too adventurous, travel in Morocco can be slow.

2There is no need for an agency in Marrakesh and Essaouira although the price sounds good if it includes everything! Essaouira in March will be windy and cold and definitely not beach weather at all! I froze there in April! What about two days Marrakesh, one day Ourika/Ouzoud, two in Essaouira - max and then perhaps Telouet and Ait ben Haddou for a feel of the south - the High Atlas, Berber villaages and kasbahs?

3Jan-Feb is likely to be cool/cold/rainy...you are likely to have better weather in March. I have been in Essaouira in March when it as very nice...and also when it has had bitterly cold winds. Who knows? I think your plan of splitting the time between Marrakech and Essaouira is good, if you realize the weather is so unpredictable.
