Yemen opening up again for tourists

Hello I am here to say that I finally managed to get a visa for Yemen using info from the forum. I am going in a few weeks with my friend to make pictures.

Its a tourist visa, the embassies here in Europe don't give visa anymore (I called them many times) and so I had to pay a travel agent. I had success with http://www.arabianvoyages.com/ who only does visa when buying with a tour (payment in advance but I got the official papers by email in 7 days).

Now Sana'a is opening up but other places in the country are still very unsafe. We will go to Sanaa, the museums, the old souks, the Rock Palace in Wadi daar. And when we are there we decide if we continue to Socotra. My friend wants to go to Shibam in Hadramawt but the security situation cannot be predicted this long in advance.

Myself I will try to stay longer and try Arabic studies for a few weeks. Hopefully I can give you more detail in the new year.

Hi there
I can confırm these good news from Yemen!!
My experience was with a new friendly and professsional local agency UNEXPLORED SOCOTRA (info@unexploredsocotra.com): İ have got my Vısa as PDF by email (after sending copy of my passport and return flıghts) and they start to look after me from my arrival at Sana airport with immigration officers. İ choose a flexible programme not a packaged tour and spent most of my time in Socotra island.
So visiting this country is still possible if you contact local agency making agreement with Ministery of Foreing Affairs you do not need Vısa from your original country.

I'm planning on going in a couple days. Where else could you go within Yemen other than Sana'a? Was Aden accessible, or Shibam? How about the day trips from Sana'a?

How was your time there?
Did they accept your visa at the airport?
I"m curious because I would like to study in Sanaa this Summer, but I'm concerned that they won't let me in.
Do you have any insight about the security of Sanaa or Socotra (or wherever else you may have visited)
