2-3 weeks Chile, Patagonia, Uruguay...? Oh, what to do!?
Hello all! This is more of a plea for some personal opinions as I am having a difficult time deciding. I will be traveling with friends through Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina (Mendoza/Buenos Aires) for a month before spending the last 2-3 weeks alone doing...well I don't know! This is my first time traveling to SA and it is quite overwhelming. I figured I could receive several preferences from people who have traveled to all the places I am deciding between~
I love being outdoors whether it is a beach or mountain setting. I'm also contemplating doing a language course OR just relaxing and doing fun stuff. Mainly I want to get the most out of such a short time but still have it be 'safest' for a solo, female traveler.
I'll end up in Buenos Aires in February and have a couple options I'm thinking of before I leave at the end of the month:
*Stay in Argentina and go to the area of San Carlos de Bariloche and maybe make my way up to Santiago and leave from there OR go back to Buenos Aires
*Stay in Uruguay for a bit and then maybe go up the coast of Brazil and leave from Rio de Janeiro
I'd hate to bother everyone but I'd just really like some advice. It is difficult to decide when you want to do everything!!!
Thanks so much in advance~ I'll go back to reading forums to try and help also

I would say the Patagonian lake district. Base yourself around Bariloche and Pucon for 2 weeks and have a good old mountain adventure! The lakes are also very nice to swim in. There is loads of activities to do in both places, 2 weeks would be a good length of time. This: http://www.aguaventura.com/ in Pucon gives a good idea of the activities on offer.Gaz.

Thanks so much for your advice! I might PM for some specific questions if you don't mind. :) patagonia is sounding rather perfect though4
Taking a week of Spanish classes would be a great way to start the trip. Seehttp://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/thread.jspa?threadID=1936702
for some tips and different opinions.

I don't know when you were planning to go on your trip, but if you were considering Chilean Patagonia, Torres Del Paine National Park is currently closed due to fires going on for a few days now.check out this article- http://www.businessweek.com/news/2011-12-30/patagonian-fire-catastrophe-forces-chile-to-close-park.html
