bicyling and snorkelingMy wife enjoys snorkeling (easy) and biking on flat surfaces. Do these activities exist in Curacao? Are there roads (could be dirt), which are fairly level and not to crowed for biking. Thanks for the help. dave

1The downtown area of Punda/Otrabanda are quite flat and I would imagine easy for biking, there were quite a few locals riding bikes around when I visited last year. It can get crowded, especially when the cruise ships pull in.
There is good snorkeling right off the beach at places like Cas Abau (could have spelled that wrong) and Porto Marie. You only have to swim out a short distance and you will see some fish and coral.

2I wouldn't particularly want to bike around Punda and Otrabanda (too much traffic and it's easier to walk), though I suppose you could. If you want to get out and bike around the island though, it is generally flat with some gently rolling hills. Here's a picture that's pretty indicative of the terrain and quality of roads around the island.
Also, the snorkeling and diving is quite good in Curacao. One thing that may be of particular interest to you are some of the Sea Aquarium programs where you can snorkel with dolphins (in an outside lagoon) as well as other interesting marine life.

4Just be aware that swimming/snorkeling with the dolphins is VERY expen$ive though; $160 and up. http://www.dolphin-academy.com/eng/dolphinprog.html
As mgtraveler suggested, you won't need to bike to get around the core area of Willemstad. The two times we have been there and toured the island from end to end (we have relatives who live there), we saw virtually nobody biking (although the island is quite flat). Most of the tourists who do rent to tour use scooters. Speed limits are generally 60 kph max (with I think only one area where it's a tear-blinding 80 kph!). Roads are very narrow with virtually no shoulders and traffic can be heavy.
